Cinebench stress test3/29/2023 ![]() People use stress testing as a way to show off how durable their PC components are. Depending on how well it handles the workload, you could end up getting a better idea of what your computer can and cannot handle in terms of performance. This is the first test your computer gets to take at the limits of its potential. But if it doesn’t and you let it run for long enough, there’s something else that could happen. When you use stress test software, the first thing that could happen is that, depending on how much of a beating you put it through, your computer could crash. Depending on how you go about it, stress testing can tell you a lot more about your computer. The basic idea behind stress testing is to test the capabilities of your CPU and RAM. They’ll end up running for an hour or two at most. Some people like to do their stress testing job in a loop, with the programs looping continuously till they’ve completed. Not only will it feel as though somewhere along the line, something has gone wrong, but it probably will. If you aren’t running applications alongside a stress test, then your computer could start to perform quite poorly after a while. ![]() Not only do they put immense amounts of power through your CPU in order to process the workloads, but also place a high requirement on RAM as well. ![]() Stress test programs put an insane amount of strain on your system components. In fact, if used on a regular basis, it could very likely shorten the life of your CPU. The higher the number, the faster your graphics card is.Before we get started, it’s important to note that stress testing isn’t something you do every day. The result is measured in frames per second (fps). The graphics card has to display a huge amount of geometry (nearly 1 million polygons) and textures, as well as a variety of effects, such as environments, bump maps, transparency, lighting and more to evaluate the performance across different disciplines and give a good average overview of the capabilities of your graphics hardware. The performance depends on various factors, such as the GPU processor on your hardware, on the drivers used. This procedure uses a complex 3D scene depicting a car chase (created by renderbaron) which measures the performance of your graphics card in OpenGL mode. The higher the number, the faster your processor. This test scene contains approximately 2,000 objects which in turn contain more than 300,000 polygons in total, and uses sharp and blurred reflections, area lights, shadows, procedural shaders, antialiasing, and much more. In fact, CINEBENCH can measure systems with up to 256 processor threads. This scene makes use of various algorithms to stress all available processor cores. The test scenario uses all of your system's processing power to render a photorealistic 3D scene (from the viral "No Keyframes" animation by AixSponza). The results will be issued in final points (CPU) and fps (GPU). According to the developers, the software has been "extensively developed to exploit the performance of new hardware as possible." The results are unsurprisingly not comparable with those from earlier versions. The test procedure consists of two main components - the graphics card performance test and the CPU performance test. For the CPU test is a scene with around 280,000 polygons used, while the GPU test based on OpenGL comes with about a million polygons, high-resolution textures and various effects. A selection of test results allows a rough classification of the benefit of your own system. The performance of processors and graphics cards is as usual determined on the basis of 3D scenes. Cinebench 15 aka CB15Īpart from it, the rendering software R11.5 to R15 and new footage, the new version now supports systems with up to 256 threads. The new version of the benchmarks for processors and graphics cards is based on the Cinebench 15 and coming from the same home 3D graphics software Cinema 4D R15 in the output. Cinebench is based on MAXON's animation software CINEMA 4D 3D content creation.Īfter about three and a half years Maxon releases a new freeware version of Cinebench in the market. Cinebench is a real-world cross platform test suite that evaluates your computer's performance capabilities.
